Comprehensive confidential advice is available during normal surgery times. Prescriptions for oral contraceptives (the pill) can be given in surgery time but forms of long acting reversible contraception, for example implants are done by special appointments only.
These tests are carried out by the practice nurse. Please inform the receptionist whilst making your appointment that you will be requiring a smear test. We follow the local policy of recommending a repeat smear test every three years, unless the cytologist recommends repeating the smear more often, you will receive an invitation by letter.
Regular clinics are held each week for taking blood samples; by Lorraine Goode Monday - Thursday mornings.
This is provided at the practice by the practice appointed midwife Paula Edwards. Clinics are heldon Thursday mornings.
We can offer 24 hour baby checks for new born babies to arrange you will need to call the surgery. A further check will be offered 6-10 weeks after birth, the practice will contact you to arrange this appointment.
As part of a programme launched by the Government; we invite all patients aged over 40 for a health check. This will involve blood pressure, weight, cholesterol checks and lifestyle advice.
Available for all patients managing a chronic disease, for example Diabetes, and those aged 65 years and over. The flu season runs from September to February each year. We also offer Shingles to patients aged 70 and over – if you are eligible the practice will contact you during flu season.
Treatment is offered by appointment only after a referral from your GP.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you will need to complete the travel vaccination assessment form below and return to the surgery. The practice nurse will review the information to check which vaccinations you will need. Once we have completed the assessment we will contact you to arrange an appointment. Please allow at least 6 weeks prior to travel when organising travel vaccinations.
Unfortunately due to increasing costs and difficulties obtaining some private vaccinations the practice can only offer vaccinations which are available on the NHS. We will advise you if you need any further vaccinations and advise that you arrange an appointment at one of the local travel centres.
